  • What is counselling & psychotherapy exactly?
Counselling is a form for talk therapy, that provides a non – judgemental and empathetic space for individuals to understand their emotions, explore the vulnerabilities, gain clarity, work towards set goals and the mental and emotional health concerns. Counselling is provided by trained professionals, is a confidential process, and involves sharing of a therapeutic relationship. Although psychotherapy includes the exploration of past contributing factors to the present problems, it is sometimes a long – term process to gain insights into chronic physical and emotional concerns. It also involves the use of several types of psychological therapies and approaches.
  • Preparation for opting for counselling?
There is no major preparation is needed while opting for counselling, however, being open to experience, believing in the process, and not let uncomfortable feelings that often arise in the counselling process stop you. The core reason is, in the counselling sessions you have given an opportunity to face your fears, vulnerabilities, challenging thought process, getting out of comfort zone and be in the better-changed version of you under the guidance and support of the therapist in the safe space.
  • When do you need Counselling?
Opting for counselling is not a sign of weakness, but is a process to realization and enhancement of the ability to deal with any situation. Counselling is often considered when the individual is going through mental and emotional health concerns which inevitably leads to physical health concerns. However, I would also suggest opting for counselling to ensure your overall wellbeing, working towards self – enhancement, finding purpose and meaning in life, work effectively towards future goals, and for gaining more clarity.
